How do we safely report CP to the appropriate authorities?
Does anyone know the answer to this? With that spreadsheet of Twitter accounts, it's more than possible to start linking usernames to actual people.
That said, none of us want to get in the crosshairs of laws concerning CP possession, viewing, transmitting, etc.
So how do we report this and stay within the law? To whom do we write (FBI local, federal...)? How should we address the correspondence?
Does anyone (ideally in law enforcement) know how we can do this? Can we get a sticky going so we can start putting the wheels in motion of locking up these sickos?

You can contact local law enforcement or perhaps contact NYPD as they seem to be on the up-and-up. (and nearly impervious to political pressure)

Do we use our actual names and contact information in reporting, or as an anonymous tip? Is that even possible?

If you wish to remain anonymous, then you likely want to get a burner phone from walmart or similar (pay with cash). Then just drive around while you're calling them.

Pass it to your local PD. That way there is at least one hop between you and whomever they pass the data to.
I say this because most of the places put in place at a fed level are simply there to trap whistleblowers and stop the flow of info.

I would do it anonymously too.
Perhaps a printed packet of your evidence dropped off in an envelope labeled "Evidence of child abuse."
Don't give your name or identifying info.
