Firefox users, protect your privacy and maintain evidence with an about:config setting

Navigate to about:config and set network.http.sendRefererHeader to 0.

If someone directly links to an incriminating site and you click the link, the site's owner is told about the originating site with the referer header. If a guilty site owner notices lots of traffic coming from /r/pizzagate, they may take the site down.

Don't know how to do this in Chrome, sorry.

To prevent content from being removed also always archive (e.g. archive.is) before you post a link publicly

Better yet...

https://github.com/pyllyukko/user.js

This is a link to a hardened Firefox profile.

You install it in your Firefox profile directory.

You can go here:

https://www.privacytools.io

And check out the section:

Firefox: Privacy Related "about:config" Tweaks

I also recommend grabbing the add-on:

Ublock Origin

HTTPS everywhere

no script

This site has a bunch of great privacy tools.
