Sure is, I found a similar picture on the bathroom with a big one of those symbols and small one and automatically assumed what it referred too, can't find the pic though but it's more symbolism yes.

Not saying you are wrong, but I just figured out why they are used in the ping pong logo. They are crossed ping pong paddles.

Maybe everybody else knew, but I felt dumb for not noticing before.
